Cozy Living in Portland's East Side

Hygge (HIY-GAH) was inspired by the Scandinavian concept of coziness and comfort.

Hygge was developed as a 59-unit, six-story building on a small 1/4-block (100’ x 100’) site in the heart of Portland’s Eastside. Due to the limited space, the floor plates were carefully designed to maximize efficiency. A wider floor plate was used, with modified “shotgun” apartments on the north side and extra storage for residents in the corridor. The south-facing façade was recessed, allowing for larger, shallow apartments with wider window lines for enhanced natural light.

The community featured a 6th-floor deck, 80 secure bike parking stalls, 15 parking spaces, an on-site leasing office, and high-end finishes. The lobby was designed with an integrated turn-key coffee shop, which was delivered ready for the owner-operator to take over.
